I’m writing this to thank all the users and feedback from users with a vehicle produced prior to May 2019. As you may know Nissan has decided to discontinue support for these vehicles. When I say decided it really is because these vehicles uses the 2G celluar network. The 2G network is seasing its operation. This means their official app, Nissan EV, will stop working together with the API for these vehicles. This means My Leaf will also stop working for these vehicles. Nothing can really be done about this. It was a fun and sometimes not so fun to support these vehicles and to that effect also the API behind it all.
- This will affect all Nissan Leaf vehicles produced up until 2019 and Nissan e-NV200 produced until 2022.
- For vehicles produced after 2019 it seems the NissanConnect services will now be a paid feature; no more free access
- Goes into effect March 30 2026
My Leaf used the dartcarwings which was made and maintained by me. I know alot of projects used this library for other interesting integrations. That was really cool to discover and I’ve had many great interactions with many great folks. So thanks for that also!
It’s important to state that My Leaf continue to work for european vehicles produced after 2019 and I guess for the foreseeable future. This is supported through my other library called dartnissanconnect which My Leaf still uses. I know people still use this library for all kinds of interesting stuff; just like they did with dartcarwings.
